HS-CRP ( Heart Screening )

The hs-CRP test measures high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, detecting even small elevations of CRP in your blood that standard CRP tests would miss. This makes it a powerful tool for assessing low-grade chronic inflammation linked to cardiovascular disease. Even when cholesterol and blood pressure appear normal, raised hs-CRP can reveal hidden cardiovascular risk. No fasting is required.

Who Should Get Tested?

Every three minutes, someone in the UK loses their life to heart and circulatory disease, often without warning. You should consider an hs-CRP test if you have a moderate cardiovascular risk (10 to 20% chance of a heart event in 10 years), a history of heart attack, unexplained chest pain or shortness of breath, swelling in the legs or feet, or a strong family history of heart disease. Men over 50 and women over 60 should also consider testing. hs-CRP is particularly useful when standard lipid tests appear normal but cardiovascular risk may still be elevated.
